Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Late R — 11 Aug 2018
Although it's as visually impressive as its predecessor which was unique enough and just on the right side of corny to be fun and entertaining, the writing this time around is so much worse in every way.
Not only does it lack the wow-factor because we've seen it before, but its story is also quite silly and full of so many plot-holes, as well as being heavy with characters (who aren't particularly interesting) and dialogue that feel like they belong to a cheesy teen film.
To make matters worse, it lacks the one thing that everyone came to see in the first place: action-packed, epic fights between Mechs and monsters. What you end up with is a cringey flick that fails to engage and completely misunderstands what fans loved about the first one.
