Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Xo X — 13 Apr 2018
?
The first movie was fun. Giant machines against sinister Godzilla type monsters unleashed by an alien race. This one lacked the unique style of the first and the two most relatable characters were not used as foils. John Boyega as the disillusioned son of a hero is destined for greatness as is Tian Jing (The Great Wall) as the brilliant scientist who is duped by a maniacal Charlie Day.
Good performances cannot carry this poorly constructed and poorly shot epic.
Just goes to show that 150 million does not buy what it used to.
