Review of Pacific Rim (2013) by Brian Y — 30 Jul 2014

I felt like this movie was made for me, but was just weak and lazy. The fights between giant robots and monsters can be cool, but also don't have enough variety or thrills to make them stand out or want to sit through again.

Only the American and Aussies do anything, the other 2 robots both get wasted inside of about 4 minutes. The main cast is terribly weak. The plot and dialogue are lacking. I don't get why the instakill sword is only used once and as a last resort, after beating a monster with a fucking ship didn't work.

This is a big, dumb movie for fans of stuff like Transformers. I expected more from the director.
