Review of Pacific Heights (1990) by Chris M — 12 Feb 2008
So-so mainstream thriller with game performances from Griffith and Keaton. The plot is fascinating and nicely woven, but it's by the book approach can at some times be annoying. Unlike Griffith and Keaton, Matthew Modine sleepwalks through his role as Griffith's boyfriend, never conjuring up enough sympathy for the audiance to make us care if he lives or dies.
Beverly D'Angelo is wasted in a small cameo.
All in all, Pacific Heights is a good example of a safe, star studded, popcorn thriller from the 90's.
