Review of P2 (2007) by Al M — 14 Apr 2011
P2 seems to want to be intervene in the realistical brutal genre of torture porn and home invasion films: Saw, Hostel, Wolf Creek, Funny Games, etc. In fact, the film has almost Hitchcockian aspirations for its torture porn plot, but these aspirations ultimately fail to manifest themselves.
Concerning a young business woman on her way home for Christmas, P2 follows the hold-ups that befall her as she attempts to leave her building. Unforutunately, her Christmas plans may be ruined by the parking lot attendant who has developed an unhealthy passion for the young business woman.
What unfolds is not bad, but it is also never original. And, most damning of all for a thriller, the film simply gets boring after a while. Therefore, P2 is an enjoyable psycho killer film but one that is also forgettable within the space of a few days.
