I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, but there were some really endearing characters in this such as the china girl and the monkey! The Emerald City made for very beautiful scenes. I bet the 1939 film makers wished it could have made use of CGI! It started off in old-fashioned black and white 4:3 and then it became gloriously colourful in widescreen.
From that moment on, I was captivated.
