Review of Owning Mahowny (2003) by Patrick U — 10 Aug 2007
Hoffman's usual great performance is the only reason to see this movie. The rest of the acting is unconvincing. The story is boring and pointless. One would expect some interesting insight into a part of the human condition considering the seriousness of the issue undertaken but in the end you don't really care why Mahowny was an addict or what attracted him to gambling.
In the end you only care that you can get back to living your life. The movie is entirely forgettable.
