Review of Overnight (2003) by M. Kristoffer S — 01 Nov 2007
Simply fascinating. As another reviewer mentioned, this documents the life of a guy who started making a documentary about himself before he even accomplished anything more than getting his name on a couple of magazines.
If anything, this movie should be viewed by anyone interested in getting into film as a cautionary tale about what happens when one's ego eclipses his talent. It's a shame, really, because "The Boondock Saints" was a pretty decent flick, especially as a writing AND directorial debut combination.
Had Duffy not alienated pretty much everyone he knew, no doubt he would have had a successful career as a filmmaker. But after watching this, it's pretty clear why we're not likely to see another Troy Duffy film ever again.
