Review of Overnight (2003) by Dana A — 21 Aug 2010
Kurt Cobain said it best, "Why it's such a fresh and new thing in his eyes is obviously because it's happening to him personally and he's such an egotistical person that he thinks that the whole world owes him something.".
This movie should be watched by every person not only those who want to enter into the film industry but anyone who want to deal in business period. This was a tragic and sad tale of how someone's ego is the downfall to their own success. I've had the displeasure of meeting Troy Duffy in person during the Boodock Saints 2 premiere and this man is every bit of a racist, homophobic, egomanic in person as depicted in this documentary. The way how he bits the hands that feed him and basically turns his back on everyone, you have no choice but to root for the man's downfall. What's even more funny is how he keeps talking about he's a normal working class guy working against them...and yet his attitude consistently shows that he expects them to bend over backwards for him.
This isn't a pleasent film to watch but most cautionary tales aren't. However, it goes to show it doesn't matter how talented you may think you are, don't ever get too full of yourself. You're just your own worst enemy.
