Review of Overnight (1986) by Anthony C — 22 Jul 2008
This thing begins almost like "Rebel without a crew", then it begins unfolding into something more like "How to fuck yourself in both the Film and Music industry by being a self-absorbed jackass and biting the hand that feeds you". LOL.
Troy Duffy is so annoying that by the end of the film he gives u a headache with all his cursing, cigarettes, drinks and yelling. What a shame, these are the type of opportunities that SHOULD be given more often to "nobodies".
But I'm pretty sure that after a disaster like this, Hollwood execs will think twice before they help out a young buck coming from nowhere.
It feels like a revenge movie, prob because most of it is, but if u didn't know that the directors were part of Duffy's entourage u would enjoy it just the same, maybe even less.
It still makes me wonder though .. what if the film just shows the bad and what if Troy Duffy wasn't THAT bad after all??
However Weinstein certainly caught on quick that this guy was gonna be a complete fuck up.
I mean, he treated every single person around him like shit, and all those people came back with a HARD vengeance ..
He ended up blacklisted in music and film, losing friends, losing all the money and fame he had gotten, losing every single thing he had been given in those years...
But somehow I still like the Boondock Saints.
I'm glad a dumbass like Duffy was taken out the biz though, he deserved it all.
