Man, is it good to get an original movie in every now and then. Don't get me wrong, I like me some franchise films, true-to-life stories, and some literary adaptations. But after the amount of mediocre entries we've had in the above categories, you have to find time for a nice change of pace.
Dear God, was this that. Supremely well-crafted period elements and set pieces. Addictingly satisfying horror underpinnings. And an amazing bunch of characters/performances. One of the very few movies I've seen this year that I didn't want to end.
