Review of Overboard (1987) by Ben P — 24 Jan 2011
Run-of-the-mill comedy combining stock elements from mistaken identity to divorced--remarried genres, with a healthy life lesson at the end, which can't be reached without getting into all sorts of high-jinx first.
However, "Overboard" is elevated above its so-so subject matter by the pitch-perfect performances by the two leads, Hawn & Russell, and their obvious chemistry together. Especially Hawn is great, both as ice cold rich bitch, and as red-neck white trash mom.
