Review of Over the Hedge (2006) by Movie R — 02 Mar 2012
Overall decent enough to sit through and enjoy, though Dreamworks show their intent upon safe, formulaic and already-proven successful story telling. There is very little originality here, the best highlight of this is the fact that my favourite bit in the film (the squirrel tripping out) has quite obviously been nicked from the Futurama episode "Three Hundred Big Boys".
I'm fed up of reviewing Dreamworks animated films and saying they lack substance, originality and emotional impact. Especially when they are inevitably compared with Pixar. Only the 1st Shrek and How To Train Your Dragon have bucked this trend, and 2 films out of the 15 or so I've seen are not enough.
