Review of Outsourced (2007) by Tom M — 06 Apr 2011
As a fan of the TV show, I had just learned that it was based on a movie. The "Outsourced" movie is a really well-made romantic office comedy shot in India. A charming cast and tight writing keep the plot moving along in a way that really builds sympathy for the characters as they work through differences and culture, friendship and the ironic realities of the business of outsourcing labor to cheap markets.
If you like the NBC sitcom, you'll like seeing where the concept came from as well. The movie itself is a bit more realistic and less cartoony than the TV show, of course. But all the basic plot points and characters are there. And you can't beat seeing actual locations in HD. Caught the movie via Netflix streaming.
Highly recommended for fans of office comedies and it's a romantic comedy without much of the predictable "chick-flick" elements you get in many such films today.
