Review of Outsourced (2007) by Linda U — 20 Oct 2011
I was unimpressed and I found this dull. The crappy NBC show was cancelled, so I had watched this movie, hoping that it was any better than its TV namesake, but it wasn't, really. Main problem I had with it is its boring "India is mystical and magical" garbage tropes and, AS ALWAYS, the chaste, innocent, sheltered Indian chick is there to be banged, but then, is expected to leave everything she knows to be with the white guy.
The only surprise here ( if you can call it that) is that she DOESN'T get with him at the end, but decides to stay with what she knows and where she is valued (oops! Did I spoil the ending? Who cares?) -- amongst her own.
And then, all of the other Indian characters are mostly cutesy and one-dimensional as well. All in all, very bland and a bit condescending. Such a disconcerting, complex topic such as outsourcing deserves a much more penetrating, elaborate treatment than this trite film.
