Review of Outlaw of Gor (1988) by Tim S — 19 Dec 2013
Despite being a sequel of sorts and based on a book, Outlaw (AKA Outlaw of Gor, AKA Gor II) is a pretty cliched swords and sandals affair. By cliched I mean in story. It's the same old 'hero comes to town, saves everybody, the King dies, he's framed for it, and he proves himself by defeating the villain at the end' story, and it's been done countless times.
Now I won't knock the movie completely for that reason, but instead because the acting and dialogue are pretty terrible. The story is more or less straightforward. This film came out the same year that Masters of the Universe did, and it's unbelievable the amount of similarities between the two.
Thankfully the crew at Mystery Science Theater 3000 made a really good episode using this one. I wouldn't say that I'd recommend it, but it's decent in the "so good it's bad" way.
