Review of Outlaw! (1999) by Sweety H — 07 May 2009

I like Nick Love's work. I have an insanely good time watching his films for the sheer entertainment factor they provide. They don't take themselves too seriously and there's lots of lovely visuals.

This is a bit different and something more more serious in its tone, looking at the state of Britain and whatnot. Two peeves I have with this film are as follows...1) Sean Bean isn't the right guy for his role.

Seriously, he's impossible to get behind in this film. He's too dull for my liking. Everyone else though actually delivers a good performance, even Danny fahcking Dyer. The second peeve I have is that whilst the idea of people joining together and rebelling against the system is lovely in principle, it just doesn't feel like it ever takes off in the film.

It never reaches the epic proportions it seems to promise us. Still, it's an enjoyable enough film which is easy on the eye and there's enough here to keep your interest for just under 2 hours.
