At first I thought, now why would they brag that the movie was produced by the same guy as the "Lord of the Rings". Then I got the answer as I watched the movie: Because Outlander doesn't come close to the LOTR.
They just hope people would want to watch it because it mentions LOTR. outlander is a decent action-fantasy flick with a semi large budget. Stunning visual effects and costumes were pretty awesome but the plot was weak.
