Review of Outlander (2008) by Mike G — 24 Sep 2009
An enjoyable blend of sci-fi and Viking. Kainan crash lands his space ship in Norway during the time of the Vikings. The reason for the crash? A large creature from another world called a Moorwen, cross between alien and the Lake Placid crocodile. Kainan's people destroyed the Moorwens to take their planet for themselves. This last one is pissed. Kainan fights with the Vikings to trap the Moorwen, using his much stronger metal.
A good cast, but the dialogue is sometimes very wooden and cheesy. Beautiful landscape. John Hurt and Ron Perlman in particular are quite underused. Don't expect Oscars, very watchable though.
