Review of Outlander (2008) by Giacomo S — 13 Dec 2009
Go out and buy a KitchenAid blender, take the best parts of your DVDs of Return of the King, Predator, and 13th Warrior and place in blender with the Roland Emmerich Godzilla monster (no, I'm not kidding.).
Set to pulse mode while slowly adding in bits of your paperback copy of Beowulf from High School and chapter 9 from your Player's Handbook (seriously, if you're even considering watching this film, you know you have one.).
Watch carefully while it all mixes together. Enjoy!
Now I hear people asking, "If I have all those DVDs maybe I should watch THEM instead.".
But who has the time to watch lots of good movies? Maybe it is better to watch one "meh" movie made up of bits and pieces of REALLY good films. (The film boasts characters named Boromir, Freya, Rothgar, Galen).
The movie looks great occasionally, is very well acted (John Hurt, need I say more?) and has a well thought-out plot. (it worked so many time before) The cliches are where you expect them to be, but pulled off effectively.
I think this one will end up on MANY people's guilty pleasure lists. (and the SyFy Channel, at least once a month).
