Review of Outlander (2008) by Paulo G — 26 Jan 2010
A space craft crashes to earth. From the wreckage emerge two bitter enemies. A forging of two worlds. Man and monster both seeking revenge for violence committed against them.
Outlander is a wonderful adventure and a great surprise for me indeed. The cast is excellent, James Caviezel plays his hero with dark sorrowful eyes, something usually thrown aside for big muscles and a chiseled chin, the lovely Sophia Myles, who gives fire to her part, the always efficient Ron Perlman and fellow Hellboy screen buddie John Hurt round up a great group of characters.
The Moorwen is a beautiful creature, angelic and fierce, and as we find out, actually has a reason for the death it leaves in it's path and is one of the major reasons I enjoyed this movie so much; The Moorwen now takes it's place as one of my all time favorite movie monsters.
Perfectly paced, and vastly meets all my expectations.
