Review of Outlander (2008) by Klavs P — 24 Feb 2010
After watching it a second time and checking out the extras on the blu-ray, its kinda gone down in my estimation. There's around 40mins of deleted scenes with different start/ending, plus the kid gets nabbed by the alien right at the start, which probly woulda been much better than the waste of space kid they added in afterwards during the normal film.
All these outtakes kinda explains why the film itself has loads of continuity issues, it just looks like they musta screened it to a test audience, got bad feedback and spent ages re-editing it and filming new scenes to patch together a new film that kept the bean counters happy.
Oh the other stupid thing I noticed was that when they went down the well, there was a bunch of molten lava down there, yet somehow all the water wasn't boiling hot. If you had water anywhere near magma u might expect the odd geyser or 2!
To me this is the sorta film that the more you watch it the more you hate it. Terminator Salvation may have a similar problem, but right now I'd still prefer that to Outlander.
