Jim Caviezel is fine as the bereaved guy who finds himself on a strange planet where he has to pass all sorts of tests to win the trust of the locals before leading them in battle. John Hurt is reliable as the king whose appealing daughter Sophia Myles is betrothed to a surly warrior who.
.. Hang on a sec! There's also interplanetary genocide with bulldozers! A waterfall chase! A hero who has to decide where he belongs! This shows that it's not just James Cameron who recycles the stranger-in-a-strange-land narrative.
This is no Avatar, that's for sure, but it's low-key fun.
