Review of Outlander (2008) by Richard C — 09 Jun 2010
There's a large number of people who were angry about Outlander's non-existent marketing and limited release (classic Weinstein style). But I just finished watching it, and I can't think of a good reason to agree with them.
Yes, there have been worse films released in theaters, but Outlander has nothing exceptional going on. It looks great. It has an cool, pulpy, b-movie plot. The actors work. Some decent effects for its budget.
Satisfying amount of gore. As you can read, it kinda has a lot going for it. So why did it have to end up so generic? Outlander could've been a cult classic in a few years, if only it accepted its limitations and went really crazy.
