Review of Outlander (2008) by Andrew W — 01 Sep 2010
A movie that constantly goes from epic to fail, lame to interesting, boring to thrilling. Great CGI at times (love the beasts despite the unimaginative name), some really, REALLY cool scenes and ideas, but the writing is just lacking (BOROMIR?!) at times, some weird decisions, and if you turn your brain on there are doesn't of things that are so dumb, inconsistent or contrary to logic that it's painful.
The odd thing is that in some weird way it works. It's a shambling mess but I didn't feel cheated after watching it. Deserving of a 2 in so many ways but still 3.25-. For those moments.
