Review of Outlander (2008) by Cj T — 02 Oct 2010
I watched this film with the expectation that it would add up to nothing more than adequate Sunday night entertainment. Amazingly, it ended up exceeding that expectation, thanks to a pretty good international cast, a decent script (with only a few minor faults that I'm willing to overlook) and action sequences that are suberbly executed and quite thrilling to watch.
At times parts of this film reminded me of The 13th Warrior, with a little Beowulf thrown in for good measure.( Patrick Tatopoulos' Moorwen creature is exceptionally well done.) Considering it's high quality, I'm surprised that this film did not get a little more attention, as it definitely deserves it, but.
..that's Hollywood I guess. If you like your genres mashed together then this is the sci-fi/ viking film for you! Lol. Well made and highly recommended.
