Review of Outlander (2008) by Michele W — 20 Mar 2011
**SPOILER ALERT** It was one of those desperate moments when you're visiting with the fam and nothing else is to do. However... I like Sci Fi and I like historical and fantastical fiction so while I thought the combo was bizarre, we gave it a go.
All I can say about this movie is... meh. Nothing special. Some of the names had me thinking of Beowulf, but the story is all wrong.
So there's this alien who happens to look completely human, as did his nuclear family before they got killed by an grazing sort of 'animal' with wicked teeth that inhabited a planet they invaded. One of these animals sneaks onto his space ship to take revenge when he escapes and crashes on earth in iron age Norway. The Norse people get hacked and horded by this creature, which turns out to be two... the alien rescues and falls in love with a princess, smashes his beacon with seconds to spare before his rescue and becomes king of Norway.
Ok. So... it didn't suck but I wouldn't recommend it either. It's just... meh.
