Review of Outlander (2008) by Longbow — 22 Oct 2015
Rather entertaining movie, with one of the few main guy characters I can understand and root for most of the time, which is quite rare. The special effects are quite impressive, lots of newer, better known movies have done way worse. In the few scenes where everything is animated, it is all animated so it fits together, so nothing looks out of place, something newer movies could also learn from.
Minor spoilers.
The flaws is that there are a few too many, action movie cliche's in there.
Few too many of the supporting characters are offed due to reasons of the film making industry that I don't understand.
Plus the obligatory "damsel in distress that can handle herself" was made up to be a bit tougher than she turned out to be, which makes me a bit sad. She had the potential to be cooler and tougher.
