Review of Outland (1981) by John B — 26 Feb 2010
This film has the feel of something that was intended to be a sci-fi classic, but without space marines, xenomorphs, Stanley Kubrick, or rogue androids it was always going to struggle.
What it does have is - in typical Western style - one man determined to clean up even though everybody else is against him, and it works well enough.
Connery plays the same character he did in The Untouchables, and if the villains had been more than two-dimensional, this film might be more widely acknowledged.
