Review of Outland (1981) by Jason R — 06 Sep 2007
There's not a lot of sci-fi in this - we're looking at a classic morality tale and there'll be plenty more like this as long as humans tell stories about a single good guy making a difference ina system overrun with corrupt entropy.
Connery puts in a great performance as the pale rider, amd I love the retro look of the future. It is a testament to this film that it got ripped-off so widely (see other posts re: Aliens). This is a film that I'm happy to watch again every now and then, exactly because it is a well told version of this story, and I don't think there's too much pretense otherwise.
