Review of Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism (2004) by Jason Y — 08 Oct 2004
DVD First Viewing, 2 Greenwald films seen.
Outfoxed is a terrific documentary that I wish was used in journalism and media courses. I bet it will be. It brilliantly depicts the problems with a corporate media, focusing heavily on Fox News, the conservative grandaddy of them all. It is directed by Robert Greenwald, and it features Robert McChesney. I have read a lot of McChesney's stuff, and his views are revolutionary (he isn't the only one who has them though). There has been a whole history of dissent. You just don't read about them in history texts, because education first started in the US to foster patriotism. And right-wing nutjobs think that being worried about your country (instead of supporting our kids' deaths [when they themselves won't go]) is un-American. This movie will have you yelling at the screen enough, but not as much as Fahrenheit 9/11.
