Review of Outcast (2014) by Jacinta B — 27 Oct 2010
A single mother and her son move into an Edinburgh tower block. The boy starts a relationship with the girl next door, while the mother paints pentagrams in blood on the walls. At the same time two Irishmen are chasing them, using that old technique of gutting pidgeons to locate them.
All the while a strange monster is picking people off on the run down estate. A strange hybrid of kitchin sink drama/occult thriller/coming of age story has a lot going for it but tries to cram too much in for its own good.
