Review of Outbreak (1995) by Jay B — 28 Sep 2013
Outbreak holds up pretty well... delivering a fun, yet cheesy, performance by the brilliant Dustin Hoffman. Outbreak, as if you weren't aware, focuses on a virus that devours victims within hours and the Army medical team bent on destroying it.
For as large at the plot becomes, it manages to feel grounded on most fronts. Not that some of the goofy helicopter chases weren't ridiculous and unnecessary, but I guess they really wanted to shoot for that two hour run time.
Sure, the ending feels a bit forced and hoaky... and some of the comedic dialog feels out of place, but Outbreak is actually a pretty enthralling watch with more pros than cons.
