Review of Out of the Past (1947) by Patrick K — 09 Jan 2008
This is just an amazing film. There are very few films that can captivate me as soon as the credits role and this was undoubtidly one of them. The acting is fantastic, noting Kirk Douglas's fantastic performance as the guy you want to punch but know you can't. The cinematography is one of the best I've seen concerning noir films, especially noting the play with shadows that helped to lay a heavy mood and giving an extra layer of grit to the dirty work and backstabbing throughout the film.
This movie's narrative superbly balanced dream like scenes of escaping with the woman you love into gritty harsh and almost brutal acts of murder and betrayal.
Doesn't get better then that folks!SEE THIS MOVIE!
