Top notch film noir. Sought this out after a crime writer cited it as one of his favourites and I'm glad I did. Mitchum is really great as the PI haunted by his past and Jane Greer is scorchingly sexy as the femme fatale.
Kirk Douglas has a small role as the heavy and does a great job. I didn't really know any of the supporting cast beyond that but they were all excellent. There are far worse, and far less enjoyable, ways to spend an hour-and-a-half.
If you're a fan of the genre, it's a must see.
