Review of Out of the Past (1947) by Jay N — 14 Jun 2007
Finest noir of all time, especially if you already know your noir genre, and so can appreciate how it plays off those themes and motifs in ingenious ways. Mitchum and Greer are in top notch form, snappy dialog, and tight direction from Tourneur.
There are those who would put Double Indemnity first, or maybe Falcon, but this is the noir for me.
