Review of Out of the Furnace (2013) by Arthur V — 29 Dec 2013
It deserves 5 stars, but I gave it 4 because the action seemed too far and in between for the type of sick twisted person Woody plays. The cast on here is really well acted. None of the characters involved just 'mingle' into the background or foreground.
Someone knew what they were doing when they spoke to these actors or they just owned this. Reminded me of A History with Violence. Nice slow build and very 'real' and gritty. A shame the writers decided to trash an indian tribe while writing this and not even use anyone who remotely looked indian.
I can understand why they would sue the company who released this when they used one of the indian family names (DeGroat), but still a good film.
