Review of Out of the Furnace (2013) by Al S — 18 Mar 2014
A unique, gripping, thrilling and powerful film. A gritty and strong southern drama with a first-rate cast who all are wonderful and a story that develops nicely. It pounds your heart with power, it delves deeps into the themes of revenge and redemption.
A moving and remarkable character study that works very well. Director, Scott Cooper crafts a brilliant, unpredictable and hard revenge tale of brotherhood and loss. A terrific and tremendous movie that's sharp, brisk and unpredictable.
Christian Bale is outstanding, he gives an emotionally effective and brilliant performance. Bale just keeps getting better and better. Casey Affleck is excellent. Affleck and Bale have great chemistry together.
Woody Harrelson is explosive. Zoe Saldana is fantastic. Forest Whitaker is terrific.
