Review of Out of the Furnace (2013) by Kevin S — 23 Mar 2014
The movie was alright, but one thing bothered me and that was the first fight Rodney does for Harlan. Why would he require him to take a "dive" on the first fight? Why would anybody be betting on a fighter that they've never seen before? I mean I'm not a professional on this matter by all means, but I would imagine they would build up a fighters credentials and let him do his thing and win a bunch of fights so that everyone is betting on him to win fights, then you would ask him to take a dive and bet on the opposing fighter so you would get all their money.
The movie was just kind of odd in a few scenes, where I'm asking myself "why did they do that?" Other than that it was watchable and the veterans definitely showed why they are veterans.
