Review of Out of Sight (1998) by Jennifer X — 10 Jan 2009
Hands down, for me, the sexiest film ever made. Clooney and a refreshingly pre-diva Lopez are off the chart here. Not only are they both stupidly attractive, charismatic and compelling, but their chemistry is combustible.
Two pivotal scenes -- the THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR chat in the boot (or "trunk" if you're reading this in the USA) of the car and the scene where Clooney meets Lopez in the bar after she's knocked back a couple of guys (the scene that leads to them making love) -- are just pure, blazing, wall-banging, deity-screaming sex.
The plot around it is pretty cool, too, with a ton of brilliant character actors (Cheadle, Rhames, Zahn, Farina, Brooks, et al) having a blast with fabulous characters, sharply written by ace screenwriter Scott Frank.
