Review of Out of Sight (1998) by Devlin G — 11 May 2010
Great romantic comedy/caper from the king of independent filmmaking Steven Soderbergh. Great script adapted from Elmore Leonard's crime novel with witty humor and fresh dialogue. Soderbergh's direction is superb.
George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez are steaming hot when they are on screen together. But it is the supporting cast including Ving Rhames, Albert Brooks, Luis Guzman, Steve Zahn and especially Don Cheadle that make this film deliciously unforgettable.
The shaky camerawork is also really good and at least matches that of Soderbergh's later Oscar winner Traffic. The editing is brilliantly done. Along with sex, lies and videotape and Traffic, this is one of the films that Soderbergh will always be remembered for.
An extremely entertaining movie! 10/10.
