Review of Out of Africa (1985) by Jeff B — 24 Jan 2011
Very uneven from the first half to the second half of the movie, both in plot and in characterization of Karen Blixen--Meryl Streep's character. I enjoyed the first half for her sake, but the second half kind of lost me.
The visuals were impressive, but it gets a bit tiresome after watching nearly three hours of sweeping landscapes from planes. All in all, not terribly exciting or even interesting, but it has its moments.
