Review of Out of Africa (1985) by Calvin C — 29 Oct 2011
Best Picture Winner of 1985, this true story about a married women in Africa falling for a game hunter is as lavish a picture as you can get. There is nothing really wrong with the movie, nor is there anything memorable either. It is one of those beautifully photographed and well-acted movies that will usually go under most people's radar. Meryl Streep can carry any film and she once again proves it here. She is the main reason the movie moves along.
Grade: B.
