Review of Out in the Dark (2012) by Alan W — 25 Mar 2013
When a Palestinian Ph.D student meets a young Jewish lawyer in a Tel Aviv gay bar, the rest of their fairly conventional star-crossed lovers' story could easily write itself. And for the most part, it did, with plot lines often signposted in the most awkwardly obvious manner.
But in its favour, it is also nicely shot using the claustophobic locations of the city; the performances are competent enough (but only just) and the last 20 mins does up the suspense to a level to sustain a more or less intriguing climax.
