Review of Out for Justice (1991) by Michael G — 27 Nov 2006
Steven Seagal is... Gino Fellini.
Steve alternates between busting heads and waxing lyrical about the old days in his italian neighbourhood in Brooklyn as he goes after an old schoolfriend turned crazy crack-addled criminal who kills his best mate. Steve's cop is going through a divorce which you know is gonna make him even more pissed off than usual. This makes for passable entertainment with Steve's forte obviously being the inflicting of damage rather than acting. There are brief roles for Julianna Margulies, Gina Gershon and Jerry Orbach who are all pretty much underused, a weak climax where Steve takes out an overweight crackhead with his superior martial arts powers and a hilarious comedy ending resolving a subplot with a ditched puppy that Steve takes on board.
FSBCR: 0/5 for coats but 2 stars for a natty beret with some sort of military insignia on it.
