Review of Out for Justice (1991) by Bryan G — 29 Apr 2011
Seriously in need of extreme re-editing for to make a lick of narrative sense this hyper violent Seagal vehicle is probably the most sadomasochistic of all his films. Brazenly mysogynistic and drenched in overblown machismo it's the tale of a Brooklyn cop whose on a path of revenge from the death of his best friend at the hands of a neighborhood psychotic gangster.
This thinly veiled plot line is just an excuse for the bizarrely dressed Seagal to despatch a wall of cliched cut outs in a series of gratuitously violent ways. Complete with disgraceful dialogue, terrible accents and shoddy direction it's all a standard affair for Seagal but a real hoot for William Forsythe as the aforementioned big bad - at least he is so ridiculously over the top he knows what it is.
If you do watch it can anyone explain the first underground bar scene to me? It makes no sense at all and runs for 5 minutes...
