Review of Out at the Wedding (2007) by Myra W — 10 Jun 2009
When my friend introduced this as a "lesbian movie," I immediately cringed. Why would a bunch of gay guys wanna watch a bunch of lesbians?! (no offense to the les pop on here.) But it turned out to be a very funny movie afterall.
The sister of the bride and maid of honor is mistaken to be gay, and her family tries to accept this part of her life. Little do they know! When her married sister wants to come to New York for a visit and meet the new girlfriend, she has to play along and find a real lesbian to play the part.
She gives her new friend the same name as her real male fiance, which only confuses things even more. It's a comedy of errors on how one lie leasds to another to cover up the first, and another to cover that, ad nauseum, until the truth is so far removed that it's anybody's guess what's true or false.
Oh and her best friend who IS gay helps her perpetuate the myth to her family and her fiance and his family. All in all, it was a good movie.
