Review of Our Idiot Brother (2011) by James W — 15 Oct 2013
The most upbeat and light hearted comedy of the year, Our Idiot Brother is short but sweet with an excellent cast, who are a very realistic one big family. Compared to his roles in Role Models and I Love You, Man Paul Rudd is very different as Ned, a happy hippy who is put in prison for mis-selling drugs and is let out a while later and forced to live with his Mum and his three dominant sisters.
This is definitely Rudd's most unique and fun role yet, he plays a bit of a scape goat and a very put upon guy who doesn't see the bad in people. Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer are just fantastic, three highly talented actresses playing Ned's sisters who are funny each in their own way.
Rashida Jones is playing a very different role too, similar to Paul Rudd and she looks hot in those glasses and is equally as entertaining as the rest of the cast. Our Idiot Brother has an interesting and witty look on family life and it's simply the brightest and coolest comedy of 2011.
