Review of Our Family Wedding (2010) by Cindy S — 21 Mar 2010
My sister-in-law and I laughed throughout the entire movie (except the parts, of course, where we were not expected to). The rest of the theatergoers laughed also. Contrived? Is not all comedy contrived? After all, the purpose is to entertain.
The acting was great, the filming beautiful (great lighting effects), the topic timely (what a great way to diffuse racial tensions)and it was just plain fun. I love to see America outside of her Ugly Betty persona - she is really beautiful; and Forrest Whitaker? Well - he may not be beautiful but is an incredible presence in any film.
In my opinion (and don't we all have one?) a movie is good if I can lose myself in it and just enjoy the experience. And I enjoyed "Our Family Wedding" very much.
