Review of Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) by Jose A — 04 Nov 2016
Ouija was one of the worst horror films ever made, so, when I heard about Origin of Evil I thought: "the executives are just dumb, this is going to fail so much". Well, I was so wrong; Ouija: Origin of Evil is a combination of original elements with some clichés that actually work together.
While the horror is found on so many unexpected details, the movie actually has a story to tell, that's why the acting is so important; thankfully, it did not dissapoint, and the little girl's character was awesome to see.
It isn't a perfect movie, actually, the third act had some scenes that feel out of place for the kind of horror that we were watching, but they work for the story.
So, this is a lesson for filmmakers: if you have a good story, you can have some clichés and stuff, but you can't rely on them for making the story. That's the reason for the success on Ouija: Origin of Evil.
